Well I finally found a phone that does it all. The AT&T Tilt. I have been looking for a phone to replace my now defunct RAZR and my now dead HP IPAQ. I wanted one with GPS, WIFI and could run all of the programs from my PDA. This windows phone is more than just your usual smart phone in my opinion. I wanted the touch screen capability along with being able to use it as a phone which seemed to be hard to find.
I have loaded all of the software that I bought for my IPAQ onto this phone and it all works great. I know have four different map programs with an onboard GPS for all of my mapping needs. I like to use it to mark my metal detecting sites and geocaching also. The nice thing is I don't have to carry three different devices to be able to do everything I want. With the built in WIFI or the data plan that I have I can download maps with Windows Live, Google Maps or use Pocket Streets and trips. I also use two programs from Vito Technology, Navigator II and Smart Maps. There is also the AT&T Navigator but I think that is an extra charge, although it will give you voice turn by turn directions.
The really wonderful thing about this phone is the slide out keyboard that even my fat fingers can use. I keep it on my desktop with the screen tilted so I can see it clearly as it checks my mail and notifies me of new messages. It is also nice to have the multitude of programs written for the Windows PDA at your finger tips. These programs can be had for little to no money and there is a program for everything and anything you want. While I looked at the iPhone and really liked it, I prefer the Windows platform as that is what I use everywhere (home, work, play) so why not stick with what I know (I'm also a windows programmer). Hope this helps you.
See you on the road........
